Don Challen is secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance. He has been a director of TASCORP since March 1991 and was appointed chairman in March 1993. Mr Challen is a director of Hydro Tasmania and a member of the Financial Reporting Council. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Honorary Fellow of the Finance and Treasury Association. Mr Challen is an economist specialising in public finance.
Jayne Godfrey Director and Audit Committee Member
Jayne Godfrey is Professor of Financial Accounting and Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance at Monash University. Professor Godfrey was appointed to the Board of TASCORP in May 2001. She is a Fellow of CPA Australia; a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia; a member of the Finance and Treasury Association; and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Professor Godfrey holds a doctorate in Philosophy, a masters degree in Economics, an honours degree in Commerce and a diploma in Education.
John Hindmarsh Director and Chief Executive Officer
John Hindmarsh was appointed a director, and the chief executive officer of TASCORP, in May 2002. Mr Hindmarsh has over 20 years experience in the capital markets arranging finance for businesses, managing investment portfolios, and managing the risks associated with treasury activities. He has a masters degree in Business Administration, has been a part-time lecturer in Corporate Finance at the University of Auckland, and was previously a Director of the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund.
Sarah Merridew Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee
Sarah Merridew was appointed to the Board of TASCORP in October 1995. Sarah holds a bachelor of Economics degree; is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia; and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a former assurance and advisory partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and is a director of Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees Ltd. Sarah brings to the board considerable experience in relation to the audit and risk management issues faced by public corporations.
Bev Walters Director and Audit Committee Member
Mr Walters has a bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree, a bachelor of Commerce degree and a master of Business Leadership. Mr Walters was appointed to the TASCORP Board in October 1997. He has previously been a Managing Director of Rabo Australia Ltd and the Primary Industry Bank of Australia and the Managing Director of ANZ Merchant Bank Ltd and ANZ Capital Markets Ltd. Mr Walters has accumulated more than 30 years’ banking and finance experience.
